These sketches were drawn during a visit to the studio of South London artist Georgia Rodger. Georgia is also a singer and a musician, her sculpture and performance often relate to the human voice or to musical instruments – their sound and the experience of playing them.

She’s currently working on a skirt made of 300 hand-hammered brass symbols for a performance next week.

Each symbol is sawed from a piece of sheet metal and hammered into a dome shape. I enjoyed drawing her at work- her face remains completely still as she focuses on one small area, whist her arms and hands are an active blur.
